B.Tech Civil Engineering (Part Time) is a 4-year undergraduate program specializing in the design, planning, and construction of buildings. B.Tech. Civil Engineering (Infrastructure Development) deals with the skills and knowledge of building dams, bridges, highways, water supply systems, modern townships, waste management, and pollution prevention.
A civil engineer is also improving existing infrastructure that has been neglected and helping to preserve the environment by assisting in the cleaning up of pollution and devising new ways to reduce future pollution of water, air, and land. As for the job scope, civil engineering graduates work in various exciting job profiles and fields impacting both public and environmental health.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Civil Engineering (Part Time)
1. In this course candidates get admission to B.Tech Civil Engineering, it is important that students are aware of the different eligibility criteria.
2. The aspirant should have passed 10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) as a compulsory subject.
3. Students should have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% - 60% in their board exams post, which they are required to qualify any one of the national/state level entrance exams to get admitted for B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
4. The qualifying aggregate score required in 10+2 levels is at least 50% and above (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC).
5. The minimum age to apply for the course is 17 years.
6. Candidates who have a diploma in mechanical or in allied sciences, done after class 10th, are also eligible for direct admission.
Admission Process
1. Admission Selections in most colleges are done through entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advance, BITSAT, SRMJEEE, VITEEE, AMUEEE, etc. These exams are conducted by different institutional bodies.
2. JEE Main & Advanced are conducted by NTA (National Test Agency) while other entrance exams are regulated by their respective institutes.
3. In some colleges students with a diploma in civil engineering can apply for direct admission, however, for major colleges like IITs and NITs.
4. The admission process generally varies across colleges. There are two kinds of admission processes for program enrolment. Entrance-based and merit-based. But most of the colleges provide admission based on the marks in the qualifying examination.
5. The student must attend the entrance exam conducted by a particular college or university. The admissions will be allotted based on the rank in the entrance exam result.
Career after B.Tech Civil Engineering (Part Time)
Civil Engineers can find a job in Government departments, private and public sector industries, research and teaching institutions, etc. Job opportunities for civil engineers are expected to increase as fast as for all jobs, although the construction industry is vulnerable to fluctuations in the economy.
As for the B.Tech Civil Engineering job vacancy, there is a great demand for skilled civil engineers due to real estate growth. Besides the construction industry, the water system and transport system require constant maintenance and improvements. So, there will always be a need for qualified and skilled engineers.
Civil engineers are hired in many different sectors of the industry from oil and energy, petroleum to chemical and power facilities, etc. Some engineers are also able to secure jobs in sectors like banking, consulting, software, etc.
Job |
Description |
Civil Engineer |
Civil Engineers are responsible for designing, planning, construction, supervision, maintenance, etc. of infrastructure projects like roads, dams, bridges, etc. |
Transportation Engineer |
A transportation engineer is tasked with the design, building, and maintenance of transport systems and projects like airports, railways, highways, etc. |
Water Resource Engineer |
Water resources engineers manage and design new systems of human water resources. They work on underground wells, springs, water treatment facilities, etc. |
Structural Engineer |
Structural engineers are responsible for creating structures that can withstand stress due to human use or environmental damage. From using the correct construction material to ensuring the structural soundness of the buildings, it is up to the structural engineer. |
Environmental Engineers |
Environmental engineers are responsible for managing projects for environmental safety and protection like air pollution control systems, water reclamation systems. |
Civil Engineering Technicians |
The duties of a civil engineering technician are similar to that of a civil engineer. They conceive, design, construct, and maintain infrastructure projects. |
